Website speed optimization and Core Web Vitals audit and optimization

We find exactly what’s slowing your site down — images, scripts, plugins, or hosting — and optimize it for Core Web Vitals. It starts with a speed audit and a clear action plan.

About the service

Website speed optimization starts with measurement: Google PageSpeed Insights scores a page on three Core Web Vitals — LCP (how fast the main content appears), INP (how quickly the page responds to input), and CLS (how much the layout shifts). Google rates LCP under 2.5 s, INP under 200 ms, and CLS under 0.1 as good, based on real-user data for at least 75% of visits.

We begin with an audit: we test your key page templates on mobile, see what loads first, which scripts block rendering, and how fast the server responds. Then we fix it in the code — images, fonts, CSS and JavaScript, third-party widgets, caching, and hosting settings. Our own site, theonebly.com, scores 95–100 in PageSpeed Insights on mobile.

You get a report on what was slowing the site down, a faster site, and before-and-after measurements. If your hosting can’t keep up, we move the site to a new host, and we can take ongoing speed maintenance off your plate.

How to check your website speed

You can check your website speed for free in a few minutes:

  1. Open PageSpeed Insights and paste in a page URL — not just the homepage, but a product or service page too.
  2. Look at the Mobile tab: Google evaluates the mobile version first.
  3. The top section shows 28 days of real-user data (the Core Web Vitals assessment); the bottom is a lab test with a score from 0 to 100.
  4. In Google Search Console, the Core Web Vitals report shows which groups of pages are slow.

Lab scores vary from run to run, so rely on field data and several tests in a row.

What usually slows a website down

A slow site is rarely about “the visitor’s slow internet.” It’s usually a handful of common causes:

  • large images without WebP or proper sizing;
  • CSS and JavaScript that block the first screen from rendering;
  • third-party scripts: pixels, chats, widgets, maps;
  • heavy themes, page builders, and dozens of plugins;
  • fonts that all load at once and hold back the text;
  • slow hosting and no caching.

Two or three of these typically account for most of the delay — that’s where we start.

What changes after speed optimization

After optimization, pages show the first screen sooner, respond to taps faster, and the layout stops jumping around while loading. What that means for you:

  • mobile visitors don’t have to wait, so fewer people leave before the page loads;
  • your ads send traffic to a page that opens right away;
  • Google sees a good page experience — one of its ranking signals, though not the main one.

We don’t promise percentage gains: before-and-after measurements show the result. For reference, our own site, theonebly.com, scores 95–100 in PageSpeed Insights on mobile. Field data in Search Console updates over a 28-day window.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check my website speed?

The easiest way is Google PageSpeed Insights: paste in a page URL and open the Mobile tab. The top section shows real-user data; the bottom shows a lab test. For the whole site, check the Core Web Vitals report in Search Console.

What counts as a good website speed?

Google’s thresholds are LCP under 2.5 s, INP under 200 ms, and CLS under 0.1. A page passes the Core Web Vitals assessment when all three are in the green for at least 75% of visits.

Does website speed affect Google rankings?

Yes, but modestly: Core Web Vitals are part of the page experience signals Google uses. Relevant, useful content matters more, so speed doesn’t replace SEO — it supports it. We don’t promise rankings for speed work.

How much does website speed optimization cost?

The speed audit costs $250. The optimization itself is priced after the audit, since the work depends on what’s slowing the site down, the platform, and the number of page templates.

Can you move my site to a different host?

Yes. If the audit shows the server is the bottleneck, we pick hosting that fits your site and move the files and database with minimal downtime. After the move, we check the pages, forms, and SSL certificate.

Do I need to rebuild my site to make it faster?

Usually not: most issues can be fixed in the existing code, images, and server settings. If the site runs on a heavy page builder that can’t be sped up any other way, we’ll suggest rebuilding only the templates that drag the most.
